Treasured FACES leader for over 30 years 
passed away on Monday, July 20, 2015.

Silberstein took the helm as Executive Director of the San Jose office of the National Conference of Christians 
and Jews (now FACES) in 1970, where she grew the organization from a staff of one to a team of 42. 
Moreover, she developed a volunteer contingent that reached 100 strong and an industrious and 
passionate Board of Directors that grew to 60 members. 

As a result of her hard work and dedication, Lil Silberstein compiled an impressive record of community 
achievements, earning her deep respect and admiration from all corners of this diverse region. 

brought key programs to San Jose, such as Camp Anytown, U.S.A. (now Camp Everytown), Green Circle 
(now Building Connections), diversity workshops, and Holocaust Studies, reaching thousands of
