Our Breast Cancer Hero
Six years ago in September of 2010, our lovely Donor Relations Director, Leslie McGarry (as she would call herself "a dolphin in another lifetime"), was diagnosed with the most aggressive form of breast cancer - triple negative. Fortunately, it was only stage 2, meaning no spreading to the lymph nodes.
She had a mastectomy and underwent the most aggressive chemo possible, despite the fact that her original oncologist did not give her much hope.

Today, six years later, cancer-free, Leslie is incredibly grateful for her family being there for her every step of the way, especially her husband Mike.
This is a pic of Leslie with two of her friends back in 2014 in Sonoma County. Since she has an ankle issue she can no longer do the Avon Walk (that, ironically, she did twice before having cancer). Therefore, she created her own ride, and they raised just about $3,000 that year for two local cancer organizations.
If you know Leslie or have ever had the pleasure of meeting her in person, she is one of the most caring and positive people, who brightens up a whole room upon her entrance. She lives a healthy lifestyle - working out everyday, eating a ton of vegetables everyday, and enjoying some wine occasionally. We are so lucky to have you with us, Leslie! Never stop being awesome.
